Our philosophy is geared toward two areas:

  1. The health and well being of the horses. Equine health comes absolutely first. We expect our boarders to actively monitor the health of their horse, to regularly exercise, groom, and attend to the horse's needs, and to regularly have their horse cared for by a certified Veterinarian and Farrier. Boarders who in essence "abandon" their horse here will be asked to leave. Inhumane treatment and behaviors will not be tolerated. We have a wonderful list of Vets and Farriers we would be happy to give you.

At Watermark we do not feed by throwing "flakes" into a stall. We weigh all feed with digital scales. That way we can accurately adjust exactly how much feed we give in order to track the horse's health. We do offer alfalfa feed but have taken most of our horses off of it. Those that do get alfalfa get a very small mix, with Timothy hay being the bulk of the feed. No horse at Watermark will be allowed to have more than 20% alfalfa.

  2. The enjoyment of our boarders. We always attempt to maintain a very friendly, pleasant, active adult atmosphere where your riding pleasure and opportunities come first. Our hope is that real people can enjoy the equestrian lifestyle at reasonable rates in a clean, friendly facility.

History of Watermark Farm. We started out as "Woodpecker Hill Stables" decades ago. It was simply a small boarding stable where a few casual riders could board and occasionally ride. Since purchasing it in 1998, we have tried to retain the wonderful atmosphere and at the same time increase the quality of care and facilities.

Since 1998 the facilities have been meticulously maintained, the barn and riding areas made safer for horses and riders alike, the pastures rejuvenated, the aisles cleared of unsafe items (overhead lights, hooks, etc.), the store rooms cleaned out, the wash rack improved, and the manure controlled and in one safe area. The quality of feed, the level of equine health, the access to 4,300 acres of trails, and the great facilities now make Watermark Farm the best boarding value in Kitsap County.

Our small number of lucky horses (fourteen stalls) means that our attention to each horse is unparalleled by larger, more profit driven and impersonal stables. It also means that each rider usually has at least one of the three arenas all to themselves!

We have a diverse group of boarders who enjoy dressage, western, and trail riding. We are a quiet, adult, mature riding and boarding facility.
